1. Measure your neck
Two ways to measure your neck thickness — choose whichever suits the tools you have.
15 cm (6") caliper
A mirrorWatch: measuring with a caliper
A 15 cm (6") plastic caliper costs about $5 on Amazon.
- Stand in front of a mirror.
- Use the caliper to measure the thickness at the mid-length of the back of your neck.
- Bring the caliper forward and write down the measurement.
- Match it to the chart above.
30 cm / 15" ruler
2 clothes pegs

Correct peg placement
Example: first peg at 10 cm, second ends at 19 cm → 9 cm (≈3.5") = Medium.
- Clip the first peg at an even mark — e.g. 10 cm (4") — and the second at 25 cm (10").
- Stand in front of a mirror and hold the ruler behind your neck, roughly at its mid-length, with one peg touching your neck.
- Slide the other peg left or right until it touches the opposite side.
- Check in the mirror that both pegs are straight and level, not angled.
- Bring the ruler forward and write down the distance between the pegs.
2. Check your ear size
If your ears are slightly larger than the dimensions shown (+3 mm / +0.12"), they'll still fit in the Serenade, though they may fold slightly in some areas. Some people don't mind this; others prefer to avoid it — so consider your preference.
